m3connect delivers private 5G networks to Kimiko and Summerjam – and launches its first deployment at Rainbow Festival

Aachen, June 5, 2025 – When music meets thousands of people, good vibes alone aren’t enough – you need a reliable network. Once again this summer, m3connect is providing powerful 5G solutions to ensure stable and secure connectivity at some of Germany’s biggest festivals. After successful deployments in previous years, m3connect is back on site in 2025 – at the Kimiko Festival in Aachen, the international Summerjam Festival in Cologne, and, for the first time, the Rainbow Festival in Cologne.

Temporary 5G – The Backbone of Every Event

For each event, m3connect designs and operates a tailored private 5G network – completely independent from public mobile networks. The goal: a stable, high-performance infrastructure to support all essential event processes – from access control and point-of-sale systems to stage management.

The network enables key services such as:

  • Cashless payment (e.g. via wristbands or apps)

  • Access control and entry systems

  • Crew communication and technical operations

  • Real-time monitoring and network usage analysis

Each festival site is equipped with a customized radio cell layout, with integration closely coordinated alongside the event teams on location.

New Setup, Proven Execution

While m3connect has already supported digital operations at Kimiko and Summerjam in previous years, the technology will be used at Rainbow Festival for the first time in 2025. As with the other events, the entire infrastructure – including power supply, antennas, frequency coordination, and edge servers – will be temporarily set up on-site within just a few days and is fully scalable.

“What used to push networks to their limits can now be handled flexibly and reliably with a clean 5G setup – without compromising security or capacity,” explains Justin Eichenlaub, Head of Cellular Solutions at m3connect.

Technology as Part of the Event Plan

The collaboration with event organizers takes place in close coordination – from planning and setup through to live operation. m3connect handles both the network design and the integration into existing systems such as POS software, crew communication tools, media technology, and event apps.

Effortless Hotel Streaming: Native Chromecast Integration Now Available on LG Hospitality TVs

Aachen, May 7, 2025 – Today’s hotel guests expect more than traditional TV offerings – they want an entertainment experience that works as smoothly as it does at home. In collaboration with LG, m3connect now offers a fully native Chromecast solution on LG Hospitality TVs – a first that allows guests to stream content directly from their smartphone to the TV without the need for additional devices or personal logins.

The solution is Google-certified and offers hotels the advantage of simple, centralized management through the conn4 portal, enabling fast, privacy-compliant integration into hotel operations while significantly reducing the technical workload for staff.

Why “native” is a real step forward

Until now, many hotels relied on external dongles, set-top boxes, or proprietary solutions to offer streaming services to guests. These solutions were often complex, maintenance-intensive, or raised privacy concerns.
The new solution is a natively integrated alternative: Chromecast is now built directly into the hotel TV – with no additional hardware, no personal logins, and tailored to the needs of hotel operations.

Key benefits of native integration at a glance:

  • BYOD Streaming: Stream directly from personal devices
  • No Hardware: No dongle or external device required
  • No Login: No personal data entry on the TV
  • QR Code Pairing: Secure, room-specific, and intuitive
  • Google-Certified: Officially approved for hospitality use
  • Centrally Managed: Fully integrable and controllable via conn4

Quick and user-friendly use

After check-in, guests connect to the hotel Wi-Fi. The TV displays a unique QR code and numeric code that allow the guest’s device to be paired with the room’s TV – with no need for personal logins or app registrations. Guests can then cast content from their smartphone, tablet, or laptop directly to the screen – compatible with Android, iOS, and Chrome-based devices, without the need for additional installations.

The platform behind the solution: conn4

conn4 is m3connect’s central guest platform. It acts as the interface between network technology and user interface, bundling digital services such as Wi-Fi access, streaming functions, or guest information into one centrally managed system.
conn4 plays a key role in the Chromecast integration: it ensures secure, room-specific device pairing in the background and enables privacy-compliant use of the native TV function – with no technical effort required by hotel staff.

Secure and precise room-specific use of the native Chromecast function requires specialized network configurations, segmentation, and precise device assignments – needs that typically cannot be met by in-house hotel IT. conn4 takes over this complexity and enables a privacy-compliant, centrally manageable integration into daily hotel operations.

Strong technology, easy to use

With LG, we’re expanding our range of native Chromecast integrations, giving hotels even more flexibility when choosing devices for a modern guest experience,” says Andreas Pohl, VP Product Development at m3connect. “Following our successful collaboration with Philips, we’re now offering a fully integrated solution on LG Hospitality TVs as well – one that meets both guest expectations and the demands of efficient, seamless hotel operations. We’re already working on the next integration for Samsung Hospitality TVs to further expand our platform and provide hotels with a consistent solution across different manufacturers,” Pohl adds.

The native Chromecast integration is now available for hotels using supported LG Hospitality TVs. The solution is Google-certified and meets all requirements for stable and secure use in hospitality environments. With this step, m3connect adds another leading TV system to its existing offering. More information and a list of supported models are available upon request.

IHG Technology Conference 2025: m3connect as Platinum Sponsor

From April 28 to 30, 2025, m3connect will be attending the IHG Technology Conference EMEAA West at the InterContinental Istanbul as a platinum sponsor.

As a trusted partner, we have been supporting the implementation of IHG Connect across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for many years. With experience from numerous projects, we are well-acquainted with the technical requirements, standards, and processes within the IHG Group. We support hotels in deploying and operating cloud-based, centrally managed network infrastructures. In doing so, we implement standardized network concepts that provide a consistent infrastructure across IHG – reliable in operation and designed for scalability and future growth.

The IHG Technology Conference is a great opportunity to engage directly with IHG stakeholders, share experiences, gain new perspectives, and initiate joint developments.

Our General Manager EMEA, Jeroen Wisse, will present insights into our work with IHG Connect. His session will focus on key network requirements and common challenges in international rollouts – particularly around integration, scalability, and operational reliability. Our long-standing experience with IHG’s technical standards and internal processes forms the foundation for these solutions – and will be illustrated through concrete examples from practice.

We look forward to engaging with project managers and technical stakeholders who are shaping the digital infrastructure of the IHG Group – and creating long-term value in the process.
